The Siberian roe deer differs from the European roe deer in the first place by its significantly larger body size (body length 126-144 cm, height at the withers — 82-94 cm, body weight 32-48 kg) and horns (27-33 cm long).
HUNTING METHODS
Corral hunting and "from the approach"
The best places for hunting the famous Siberian roe deer (Capreolus Capreolus pygargus) are certainly the Kurgan and Chelyabinsk regions.
For several decades we have been organising successful hunting these graceful animals during the rut.
Most of the trophies recorded in the SCI record book are from this region!
TROPHY
Compared with European roe deers, Siberians are much larger, reach a height at the withers up to 100 cm, have a body length up to 150 cm and weigh from 40 to 45 kg. "Siberians" have more massive and long horns than their European relatives. The length of the horns of large trophy males approaching 40 cm.
HUNTING SEASON
The mating season of the Siberian roe in the main hunting grounds of the West Siberian Lowland comes one month later than that of its European counterparts, i.e. from late August to mid-September. This is exactly the time when we recommend our hunters to come hunting.
In the Kurgan and Chelyabinsk regions hunting season starts from August 25 and lasts until mid-September.
Trophy deers can be successfully hunted in October, when they go out into large open spaces for enhanced nutrition after the rut and on the threshold of the coming long and difficult winter. Another advantage of hunting in October is the ability to combine hunting for Siberian roe deer with more efficient boar and moose hunting.
HUNTING METHODS
Early in the morning (before dawn) and in the evening (shortly before sunset), hunters, accompanied by experienced outfitters, drive to the grounds to search for trophy males of Siberian roe deer. After spotting a large male, the hunter begins to approach on foot at a distance of a confident shot. He must be extremely careful and attentive when approaching the animal, as the Siberian ROE deer is very sensitive and timid. For the same reason, the hunter must be ready to make an accurate shot at the goat from a distance of more than 100 meters (up to 300 meters). It is also possible to hunt it from ambush.
Weather conditions also have a significant effect on hunting performance. If the spring and summer was dry, the fields and meadows in the region of hunting will be covered with low vegetation, which gives the hunter a good chance of early detection of the trophy goat and making a successful shot at it. Such dry seasons provide more successful hunting that ones of large amount of spring-summer precipitation and thus high vegetation.

Our outfitters are experienced enough in hunting trophy males of Siberian ROE deer. They are always ready to help the hunter to get as close as possible to the beast and evaluate the trophy qualities of the animal. However, the guest, as elsewhere in the world, is fully responsible for his shot.
